Across the global mining industry, the ultra fine fraction — typically the sub-75 micron material — is routinely written off as “unavoidable loss”. It reports into tailings dams, compounds across decades of operation, and in chromite specifically represents a structural loss of Cr₂O₃ units that conventional gravity circuits simply cannot recover.
